Is this MY 47th Hat?

A while ago I pitched a story to Web Worker Daily for BlogTalkRadio. I got an email from writer Bob Walsh who, in addition to setting up an email with me, complimented me on my pitch. Nice to hear.

47hatslogo Not long after his post about BlogTalkRadio came out did he mention to me that he had a side project site, 47Hats.com, for developers and MicroISVs. He wondered if I’d author a guest post for the site on how to send a decent pitch email. Flattery gets you everywhere with me, so I agreed. The post, entitled “PR for MicroISVs from someone who knows” went up last Friday, but I was starting my vacation, so I’m only now writing about it. Bob prefaces the post with this:

[Note: I ran into Luke when I as a writer for Web Worker Daily I got his press release for BlogTalkRadio. I was so impressed with how he crafted that PR, I asked him if he’d share some of his expertise here. Be sure to check out Luke’s recommendation at the end of this post – it’s excellent.]

In addition to my article, I made sure to plug Brian SolisPR Tips for Startups eBook (that’s what I think Bob’s referring to there), which I think is a fantastic foundation for online entities – actually any entity – that thinks they understand PR, because, guess what? You don’t.

Skim through it anyway, if you DID know everything in there, then you can leave me a snooty comment telling me so.

Love your thoughts, whether you agree or disagree.

The Rundown with Jeremy Pepper

The Rundown is back! And we’re starting off the new year with a Pop! Jeremy Pepper, PR Blogger at POP! PR Jots and director of communications The Point, gives me The Rundown on the state of public relations. As always, The Rundown is my Tuesday LIVE BlogTalkRadio show featuring an analysis or summary of something by a knowledgeable person – and me. A little bit about Jeremy:

Jeremy Pepper, is director of communications, at The Point, an online community that helps individuals organize efficient group action, leveraging the power of the Web to solve problems and be a catalyst for change. Jeremy is responsible for traditional and social media programs, as well as community outreach and marketing. He has a decade’s worth of experience in high-technology, consumer technology and consumer public relations, and is one of the world’s earliest and well-known PR bloggers and social media strategists. His POP! PR Jots is one of the most popular PR blogs, writing on topics affecting the marketing and public relations industries.

Prior to The Point, Jeremy worked at Weber Shandwick with clients across the board on the development of social media campaigns and strategies; such companies included Cisco, BEA Systems, General Motors, MasterCard International, Verizon Wireless and VeriSign. Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Jeremy founded POP! Public Relations in Scottsdale, AZ, worked in-house as Public Relations Manager at Ofoto, and at Shandwick International on the Eastman Kodak and Compaq teams. Jeremy’s past public relations campaigns have won the IPRA/United Nations Grand Award for outstanding achievement, the IPRA Golden Award and two Silver Anvil Awards of Excellence.

I’ll be having a live discussion with Jeremy about Jeremy, The Point, and the public relations industry. Don’t miss it or we just might change the world without your input.

New Live PR Podcast – The Rundown with Luke Armour

Yes. It’s true. To answer a question Mitch Joel posed to me at Podcamp Toronto in February: Tuesday, Mitch, this Tuesday.

therundown.jpgI’ve started a show on the BlogTalkRadio network entitled that focuses on public relations, the web, promotions, publicity, internal communication, media relations, investor relations, online marketing, writing, public affairs, social media, issue management, blogging, crisis communication and any other form of public relations. The live-show-turned-podcast is entitled “The Rundown with…”

Since I’m not entertaining nor smart enough to hold your attention by myself, I’ve decided to do an interview-style show and get some smart folks to spend 30 minutes with me LIVE. Then I’ll do zany things with them for my own amusement. I think I can make that last until future guests listen to archived shows and start rethinking their commitment to talk to me. Anyway, the interview style definitely takes the most advantage of BlogTalkRadio’s live talk-show format.

The Rundown will air Tuesdays at 1:30pm Eastern. Because it’s live, your calls are welcome. Whenever I have I guest you’d like to talk to or question, just call in at (646) 716-8329. You can also email your text or audio comments to me before the show and I’ll play them. The archives will be available at my BlogTalkRadio host page or by subscribing to the show’s RSS feed.

So far I’ve got some great guests lined up and it should be fun. My inaugural show airs this Tuesday 10/16 and features Sarah Wurrey (the fool!) from Custom Scoop, its blog and the irreplaceable PR Blog Jots. Join me to get the rundown on Sarah Wurrey!

Disclosure: I work for BlogTalkRadio, but the show is still my puppy.
